ST MARY’S MATTERS THE NEWSLETTER OF THE FRIENDS OF ST MARY DE CASTRO, LEICESTER We like all our Friends to feel very much part of St Mary’s, so we try to keep everyone up-to-date on the progress of Challenge 900 and in touch with what is happening, through our Friends’ Newsletter - St Mary’s Matters. Published three times a year in April, August and December, it is posted free to all Friends. With Friends living in all parts of the country (and abroad), the Newsletter enables us to keep everyone informed about what is going on. As well as a regular Challenge 900 update, SMM has details of forthcoming Friends’ and other events at St Mary’s, together with various articles of general interest. Discovering St Mary’s is a series of articles written by The Revd David Cawley, Vicar of St Mary’s, each article exploring a different feature of the church. As a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, David Cawley is well qualified to write with authority on these subjects. Features covered so far have been - The Trinity Aisle East Window, Victorian Restorations and the Bells of St Mary’s. I remember St Mary’s when ..... gives Friends a chance to reminisce about times past at St Mary’s, and has proved very popular! With many Friends not living locally, we are trying to find ways of getting to know each other a bit better. A new series - Friends in Focus - will help us do this by publishing ‘interviews’ with some of those Friends who have long since moved to live away from Leicester. St Mary’s Matters is edited by Peter Wright (64 Shirley Avenue, Leicester LE2 3NA Tel 0116 270 9995) and published and printed by Terry Doughty (7 Church Avenue, Leicester LE3 6AJ Tel 0116 262 0308).
